Old Orchard Beach 4th of July
Three things stack on July 4 in OOB: Ocean Park Parade, Seaside Pavilion Patriotic Concert, and a special fireworks display.
Ocean Park 4th of July Parade
Hosted by the Ocean Park Association. Staging at 14 Temple Avenue. Community parade through Ocean Park streets.
Seaside Pavilion Patriotic Concert
At Seaside Pavilion, 8 Sixth Street. Phone (207) 934-2024. Typically featuring Don Campbell. Free outdoor concert.
Special July 4 fireworks
9:45pm next to the Pier. Sponsored by Palace Playland and the Pier. Longer and larger than the standard Thursday-night display.
Best viewing spots
- Main beach south of the Pier, most space.
- Pier upper deck, closer.
- Ocean Park, quieter and you can drive home faster.
Where to eat
Reservations at Joseph's by the Sea or Brunswick fill weeks ahead. Pier vendors and Pier Fries handle walk-up traffic; expect long lines.
Parking strategies
Arrive by 5:00pm to find a downtown lot. After 7:00pm, park west of downtown and walk in. Don't park in residential streets, towing is enforced on July 4.
Where to stay
Most OOB hotels and rentals book up months in advance for the July 4 weekend. Ocean Park rentals are the easier overnight option.
