OOB requires registration of all rentals under 30 days. The ordinance was adopted 2018 and amended several times, current version sets a $250 annual fee, life-safety inspection requirement, and a per-zone cap on rental nights.
Updated May 2026
Who must register
Any rental of 29 nights or fewer, whether through a platform or direct. Annual registration with Code Enforcement.
Fees & inspections
$250 annual registration fee. Life-safety inspection on initial registration and periodically thereafter (smoke/CO detectors, egress, occupancy load posted, fire extinguisher).
Caps
Per-zone limits on the number of short-term rental nights per calendar year. Confirm current zone-specific cap with Code Enforcement before underwriting an STR pro forma.
Enforcement
Operating without registration: $500/day fine. Repeat: license suspension. Town conducts platform sweeps quarterly.
What it means for buyers
An unregistered or non-compliant STR is a real liability, get the registration certificate as part of due diligence, not just the seller's rental history.
