Ocean Park Beach
The quieter historic stretch. Wider beach, generational family character.
Updated May 2026
Where it sits
The Ocean Park section of OOB, south of the Pier district. Wider sand than downtown at most tide stages.
Character
Quieter. Family generations who've come back since the 1881 Free Will Baptist founding. The religious heritage still shapes the daily rhythm, the beach itself is calmer and more conservative than downtown.
Access
Public access from the Ocean Park street grid. Most parking is OPA (Ocean Park Association) member or seasonal-permit; a handful of public spaces exist near the main access points.
Best for
Quieter family days, beach walkers, and visitors staying in Ocean Park itself.
Lifeguards
Lifeguard coverage at Ocean Park public access points is administered separately from the OOB main beach. Confirm staffing dates with the OPA in season.
Dog rules
Ocean Park beach dog ban runs 9am, 5pm Memorial Day to Labor Day, an hour earlier than the OOB proper rule (10am, 5pm). Off-leash dogs at the wrong hour will draw a citation.
Adjacent
The Temple, the Ocean Park Post Office, and the seasonal Memorial Library at Furber Park are all within a short walk inland.
